[Touichirou raised an eyebrow skeptically, shoulders still squared. He wasn't dropping his guard for anything, not even a non-esper, but he listened nonetheless.]
"And what would you know about keeping the powerful as assets?"
[Touichirou doesn't think he's stupid - after all, treachery and backstabbing is only natural in this kind of path he's chosen, and a threat like Shigeo could genuinely stop him.]
[ as if it’s self-evident from the way he edges towards mob first. ]
This one, for example. [ and then, his voice dropping into something that can only be so tender because he’s so vexed: ] ... he’s in a lot of trouble when we get home.
[ perking up, stepping closer. ] But he does listen to me. So, you know, if you wanted to avoid trouble down the line ...
[As expected, the blast bounces right off of Touichirou's solid barrier. Unphased, having not even flinched from the gunshot, the man starts to approach Reigen.]
"Foolish decision. Rash. That's all that kind of attachment can do.
But you're right. I can use you to my advantage: as a hostage."
[ he’s physically strong too, this is bad, unbelievably bad. reigen’s hands scrabble at the grip around his neck--he laughs, a little hysterically, trying to lurch back, what the hell kind of guy-- ]
H-hey, come on, we can probably still talk this out--
[Touichirou doesn't sense Shigeo behind him, shakily coming to, trying to get to his feet. No, he's walking Reigen to the glass, hand clamped firmly on Reigen's neck and aura bitingly cold and menacing as it bit into Reigen, too. Anger... bitter, resentful, disgusted anger.]
Ara...taka...
[That's all Shigeo can get out before there's a blast of energy that blows out the glass, filling the room with smoke, obscuring everything.
It was extremely lucky that Serizawa had intervened, having wrenched back Touichirou's hand with his umbrella and shielded himself and Reigen from the blast, even if it shredded his important tool.]
[ reigen lowers his forearms, instinctively raised to cover his face. who the hell is that? he wonders. he can’t remember having passed anyone on the stair.
‘president,’ serizawa says, ‘i’m trying to do the right thing!’
oh, cool, organizational conflict. suzuki doesn’t seem to be buying it, though; reigen has half a mind to grab the new guy and yell at him to grab mob, he can get the kid on the floor, they really gotta go-- ]
[ not that reigen has a lot of alternatives, but this is just more mob leaving him behind to do things mob doesn’t want to do--
which is a hell of a thing to be worried about when you’re hurtling through the air at unrelenting speeds. serizawa yells as steadies them both somewhat with psychic powers--but then one of the claw guys is the one to save them, setting them both down gently on the ground with hanazawa, ritsu and the ex-claw guys. he can see the suzuki boy being pitched out the window too, ensnared safely afterwards by vines.
overhead the sky churns, a crimson storm that reigen knows is just the reflection of whatever’s been awakened in mob. there is, at first, a series of collapses; two figures like meteors colliding in rubble, the last of the rooted buildings in the area ripping themselves from the ground.
and reigen, helpless with the rest, though he’s shaking for a different reason. how could he have known, half a year ago sitting down for that first introduction, that it would come to this? ]

"It makes sense this man would have an emotional burden like that. You're proposing that I join with you two, to save his life?"

He's seen his loved ones in peril and death too many times, today.
If Serizawa has a good head on his shoulders, he'll take Reigen and run. Shigeo's aura is flooding the room, bright, sharp, angry.]
Enough.
[Touichirou forgets Reigen and Serizawa entirely, interest piqued entirely in this new worthy foe of his, of that incredible, smothering aura.]
Guys like you...
...Never mind. Some people only learn through pain.

... Mob.

Serizawa. Keep Arataka safe.
[With that, Shigeo will lift both men with his psychic aura, ejecting them out of the tower himself before Touichirou can threaten them again.]
